Experience using Terra-Sorb® complex on soybeans in Brazil

Objective

To evaluate the impact of the biostimulant Terra-Sorb® complex on the physiological development and productivity of soybean crops under real agricultural management conditions in the Southwest of Paraná, Brazil.

Trial Description

  • Crop: Soybean – cv. NEO 510 IPRO
  • Location: Experimental Station of the Agronomic Foundation – Vitorino, PR (Altitude: 790 m)
  • Sowing date: 05/11/2024
  • Soil conditions: Dystrophic Bruno Latosol, very clayey texture (>75% clay)
  • Climate: Humid subtropical (Cfa – Köppen), with well-distributed rainfall throughout the year
  • Experimental design: Randomised blocks, 5 treatments, 4 replicates
  • Treatments:
    • T1: Untreated control
    • T2: 500 mL/ha in-furrow + 500 mL/ha at V3/V4
    • T3: 500 mL/ha at V3/V4
    • T4: 500 mL/ha at V3/V4 + 500 mL/ha 15 days later
    • T5: 500 mL/ha in-furrow
  • Applications: Spraying using DJI T40 drone
  • Variables assessed: Yield (kg/ha), 1000-seed weight, number of pods and grains per plant, plant health, height, phytotoxicity, and lodging

Results

Grain yield (kg/ha)

soja2eng

T4 and T2 achieved the highest yields, outperforming the control by +5.96 and +5.83 sacks/ha, respectively.

TreatmentYield (kg/ha)Increase over control
T1 – Control 4175
T2 – In-furrow + V3/V4 4525 +350 kg/ha
T3 – V3/V4 4371 +196 kg/ha
T4 – V3/V4 + 15 days 4532 +357 kg/ha
T5 – In-furrow 4333 +158 kg/ha

Additional key observations:

  • All treatments showed zero phytotoxicity.
  • Plant health ranged from “Good” to “Very Good” (scores 4.0 to 4.25).
  • Increase in number of pods per plant and 1000-seed weight in treatments T2, T3 and T4.
  • No lodging was observed in any treatment.

Conclusions

Terra-Sorb® complex significantly increased soybean productivity, with gains of up to +8.5% compared to the control.
The most effective combinations were V3/V4 + a second application after 15 days (T4) and in-furrow + V3/V4 (T2).
Improvements were observed in 1000-seed weight and number of pods per plant.
The product demonstrated high agronomic safety, with no visible negative effects on crop physiology.
