Effect of Tierra-Sorb® And AminoQuelant-K application (Bioiberica) on production and fruit size in avocado

Avocado is a very important crop wordwide, wich adapts to very diferente edaphic and climatic conditions.

The characteristics of this crop, spcecially it’s great vigos, it’s slow production start and the adverse factors to wich flowering and fruit setting are subject to, entail a high production variability.

Thus, crop management is very important un order to ensure a targer harvest. This trial has evaluated the application of Terra-Sorb®Marco radicular (application throught drip irrigation) and AminoQuelant®-K (foliar application)to determine whether they can be helpful to increase production in this crop.

Organism: Agrogest

Location: Salvador Heredia’s estate, Vélez-Málaga. Málaga

Variety: Hass

Platation area: 8 x 4m

Age: adult
Experimental design
Treatments:
- Control: untreated
- Terra-Sorb® marco radicular +
AminoQuelant®-K: 43l/ha + 12 l/ha
Plots:
10 trees each, two repetitions for each treatment
Application:
Terra-Sorb®4 marco radicular is applied radiculary by microsprinkler irrigation in 8 applications and AminoQuelant®-K by foliar srpay, 3 applications before harvest.
The firs application of Terra-Sorb®4 marco radicular starts with the beginin of flowering.
 
Results
Graph 1. The treated with Terra-Sorb ®4 marco radicular and AminoQuelant®-K presented a very important increase in kg/tree production, which was 65% higher than the control.
Graph 2. The number of fruits in Terra-Sorb® y AminoQuelant®-K treated plots almost doubled with regard to control. This shows a clear psotive effect of the product Terra-Sorb®4 marco radicular on fruit setting and fruit retention.
Graph 3. Harvest classification ccording to commercial categories. Terra-Sorb® and AminoQuelant®-K Treatment increased production in all commercial categories. In percentage values with regard to the control, there was a greater increase in smaller categories, but cinsiderinf the commercial value, the production increase in the most economically valued categories represents an important production improvement. ç
Graph 4. Number of commercial fruits classified into commercial categories. Terra-Sorb® an AminoQuelant®-k treatment resulted in an important production increase. AS a consequence, there is a greater quantity os smaller category fruits, which suggests extending the fertilization program to compensate the production increase.

Conclusions

-          Applying Terra-Sorb® in avocado crop from flowering until fruit development has a very positive effect on fruit setting and fruit retention

-          The important production increase thanks to Terra-Sorb® and AminoQuelant®-K treatment is observed in all commercial categories.

-          AminoQuelant®-K application seems to have a positive effect on fruit size and production; however, a correction of the fertilization program is recommended to adjust it to the number of fruits set.
